The latest news on ARDF Relief Efforts
April 2021

Guatemala

ARDF supported the Rev. Dana Craft and his team as they reached out to those still struggling after back to back Hurricanes struck the region last fall. In March, they distributed stoves and food to help those whose fields and homes are flooded. Dana filmed this greeting as they arrived in Campur, right before holding a service of Thanksgiving. We are grateful for these efforts. But the need continues. Guatemala is now struggling with a third wave of COVID cases AND an erupting volcano!

Flooded crops in Guatemala mean no harvest this year.

A truck with supplies brought needed hope to the people of central Guatemala.

Your Impact

In the past three months, ARDF sent over $124,000 in relief funds to:
  • Chile
  • DRC
  • Ethiopia
  • Guatemala
  • Haiti
  • Nepal
  • Pakistan
  • Tanzania
  • Texas

COVID-19 Relief Efforts

Nepal

Thanks to a partnership with Christ Church Vienna (VA), ARDF sent COVID relief funds to the Church in Nepal. These funds are for food relief in the Kathmandu Valley, including the slum community of Danaseri.

Pakistan

The Diocese of Faisalabad, and their partner, AWARE, distributed food packages to 100 needy families. These families were carefully selected and these efforts provided lifesaving assistance that kept many from begging on the streets, exposing themselves and their families to the coronavirus.

The Joseph Fund for Disaster Relief

ARDF is excited to launch the Joseph Fund for Disaster Relief, based upon the story of Joseph and his management of resources in Egypt. Genesis 41 tells the story of Joseph spending seven years saving resources to be ready for a seven-year famine. His foresight and planning enabled the nation to be ready to respond to an otherwise devastating situation.

Like Joseph, ARDF needs to be wise and proactive, rather than reactive. Beginning now, we are launching an effort to raise money for the Joseph Fund. This fund will allow us to be more excellent, efficient, and effective when disaster season arrives. When a disaster occurs, we will be able to respond immediately.

Pray for Texas

Texas

We have been astounded by the great outpouring of support for our brothers and sisters in Texas. The Diocese of Fort Worth has been distributing funds to churches across the state. ARDF also sent funds to the Austin Disaster Relief Network (ADRN), a network of Greater Austin churches and trained volunteers who are prepared and ready to meet the emotional, spiritual and physical needs of those affected by disaster, great or small. Like the Diocese of Fort Worth, ADRN is receiving requests for small grants from those affected by the ice storm. ARDF also is partnering with Christ Church Austin, to support their work with local families affected by the storm.
