Dear Intercessors,

This month we are highlighting Holy Cross Theological Seminary in Myanmar. We have been so thankful for the incredible support shown to our partners in Myanmar as they face incredible challenges. You can read the most recent relief update here.

Founded in 1934, Holy Cross Theological College (HCTC) has long played a central role in training clergy and uniting the Anglican church in Myanmar. Now, with the church in Myanmar is at a crossroads in a battle for orthodoxy, the demand for theological training has expanded.

HCTC is expanding and equipping classrooms and library so it can train even more students, who will serve the Anglican church in Myanmar. You can read all about the exciting things this will help HCTS do on our website.

We have seen the Lord's miraculous and faithful hand in this project. Thank you for your faithful prayers for our partners in Myanmar.

Psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength,
    a very present
 help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
    though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,
    though the mountains tremble at its swelling.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
    God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
    he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord of hosts is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come, behold the works of the Lord,
    how he has brought desolations on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
    he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
    he burns the chariots with fire.
10 “Be still, and know that I am God.
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth!”
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Praise

  • Praise that construction on the building is ongoing, even with the rising political tensions in Myanmar. The third floor was completed in early July 2021! The first tranche of funds from ARDF paid for the generator and the PA system. The second tranche was recently sent and will pay for an elevator and a power transformer.
  • Praise for the current witness of the school, and the future impact it will have on church leaders in this area.

Prayer

  • Pray for peace in Myanmar!
  • Pray for The The Most Rev. Stephen Than Myint Oo, Archbishop, Anglican Province of Myanmar as he leads the church in this trying time.
  • Pray that any civil unrest would not affect the Diocese’s ability to receive funds to keep this project moving.
  • Pray for the hearts of the future seminary students, that the courses they take will allow them to stand strong against the current tide of secularism in Myanmar.

Almighty God, we lift up Holy Cross Theological Seminary to You...

  • We thank you for Your faithfulness! Amidst many difficulties, progress has been made in construction.
  • We pray for the students, staff, and faculty at HCTS. May the formation they receive help them to faithfully display the Gospel with their lives.
  • Oh God, you are in the midst of our partners at HCTS, and they will not be moved. Through turbulent circumstances, we know you are their rock! Protect and defend them against all storms.
  • Grant Your favor upon the construction process. May this building be a visual reminder of Your love for Your people.

You are our refuge and our strength. O Lord, hear our prayers!

Amen.
