Dear Intercessors,

In 2010, Tumaini Academy was founded to bring quality Christian education to Northern Kenya. St. Andrew’s High School (and the forthcoming girls’ high school) will continue the tradition of Tumaini Academy by providing an academically strong, locally based, Christian education. Currently, many Tumaini graduates move out of the region as they go to high school. However, parents of all faiths in the region wish for a local Christian school to continue the education that Tumaini Academy has been providing thus far.

We are pleased to report that the school has opened! Phase one of the project is complete, and phase two will add more classrooms and administrative buildings.

On top of that, this week the first group of boys arrived! We are so thankful for the 27 students that are now at the school - and 11 of them are graduates from Tumaini Academy! Read more about this amazing project on our website.

Despite this amazing news, Northern Kenya is facing many serious hardships right now. Severe drought is undergoing the region, and tribal tensions have escalated resulting in violent conflicts. Please join us in prayers for peace and rain, and if you want to donate to drought relief, the link can be found here.

Thank you for your faithfulness in prayer!

Psalm 122

I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord!”
Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem!

Jerusalem—built as a city that is bound firmly together,
to which the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord,
as was decreed for
Israel, to give thanks to the name of the Lord.
There thrones for judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! “May they be secure who love you!
Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!”

For my brothers and companions' sake I will say, “Peace be within you!”
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Prayers

  • Pray for the boys who have started their first term at St. Andrew’s.
  • Pray for the teachers as they teach not only school subjects, but the transforming love of Christ to the students.
  • Pray for rain! As the severe drought continues, many people are loosing everything.
  • Pray for tribal peace in the region, particularly between the Gabra and Borana.

Praises

  • Praise for the school's successful opening! We are so excited for the 27 students who are initially attending!
  • Praise that this project is funded at 92%!
  • Praise for the faithfulness of Bishop Quampicha and all who have worked to make this school a reality.
  • Praise for the community among the students which will result in a brotherhood that transcends tribal differences.

Almighty God, we lift up these praises and prayers to You...

  • We rejoice that these boys can go up into the house of the Lord together! We know that St. Andrew's High School is your house, Oh Lord, and we pray that as these boys go to school together, they will also go to worship You together in Your church.
  • We pray that all the tribes may be bound firmly together to give thanks to You and testify to Your name!
  • We pray for peace in the land. We pray for protection on the students, the teachers, their families, and the surrounding region. May peace be within their walls and security within their towers!
  • We pray for rain to end the drought, and we ask that the rain be gentle on the land and not cause harsh flooding. We pray that you sustain the people and give them what they need not only to survive, but to thrive.
  • We seek the good of St. Andrew's High School and the surround region. Please bless them and prosper them that they may give thanks to Your name.

As it was decreed, we give thanks to the name of the Lord!

Amen.
