A new borehole will provide a clean, reliable source of water for St. Paul's church in Athi River, in the Diocese of Machakos. Currently, there is no consistent source of water for the church, its school, and the surrounding neighborhood. The government water is unreliable and sometimes the community can go a month without water. Alternatively, purchasing water is very expensive and is a huge strain on the church's budget.
A geological survey has already been completed, determining that the proposed borehole will produce enough to sustain the church property and the school. There will be water to irrigate plants during the dry season. The church also plans to sell some of the pumped water to generate additional income. This will support other church projects.
St. Paul's Athi River is the church home for over 1,000 members of all ages. The church also houses a school with 136 students ages 3-13.
For this project, ARDF is partnering with the Anglican Diocese of New England (ADNE) which has had a multi-year partnership with the church in Kenya. You can join us in completing this project to bring clean water to the church community in Kenya.
