In the Diocese of Kolkata, ministry to the under-resourced and under-represented is a top priority. In the past five years, the diocese has seen 12 new churches planted, a safe house opened for girls rescued from slavery and trafficking, an eye clinic built, and a school opened - the only school in its region that teaches English. These resources speak volumes to the community, allowing the church to speak into their lives and share the transformative message of the gospel.
Expanding A School
St. John's School, located in Balurghat in the Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal, is a great success and is currently attended by 50 children. This project will build a new classroom, expanding the school's capacity to enroll 20 more students. One of the classrooms will also be used as a multipurpose space with a sewing class for young tribal girls currently attending the school's classes as they live in temporary accommodation.
Church of the Holy Cross, Anglican Diocese of South Carolina, has partnered with the ministry of Bishop Probal Dutta in the Diocese of Kolkata for ten years. They are excited to visit in February of 2026 and use this new space for a health clinic missions.
